The SMALLEST robot vacuum you can buy: SwitchBot Mini Robot Vacuum K10+ Pro

Introduction

A robot vacuum or mop is most useful when it can physically reach any mess in your home. Yet, many of these robot cleaners are too big to fit in between the legs of chairs, small tables, and cabinets. SwitchBot aims to solve this with the Mini Robot K10+ Pro.

As the world’s smallest robot vacuum, it can reach areas that other robot vacuums cannot, like in between your dining room chairs. This means it can clean more of your floor, and give you back more of your time. It’s also quieter than many other robots, but it’s no less powerful. It vacuums and mops your floors, and integrates with most smart home platforms. I’ll highlight all the features of the K10+ Pro to help you decide if it’s right for you and your smart home.

Main Points

Unboxing

When you purchase the K10+ Pro, you get everything you need to get going, plus replacement accessories for down the road.

You get the mini robot vacuum, auto-empty base station, two edge-sweeping brushes, two dust bags, two bin filters, a mopping pad plate, and a pack of 30 mopping cloths.

The robot has a laser on top, plus sensors on the sides so it knows where it’s going. There are charging points on the back, and it docks itself whenever it needs to charge.

Features

What sets the K10+ Pro apart is its size. At less than 10 inches wide by about 4 inches tall and weighing just 5 pounds, it’s ultra compact. This allows it to fit in between spaces most robot vacuums cannot, giving you a higher coverage rate. And since it’s lightweight, it’s fairly easy to move between floors.

Many robot vacuums are black, and I like how the white color of this one blends in more with our home décor.

Along with the small size comes less noise. SwitchBot claims the mini robot operates at just 48 decibels, compared with 70 in other robot vacuums. It really is much quieter, and it makes hardly any noise when mopping. Less noise means it’s less likely to disturb you if it’s cleaning while you’re home. I know I don’t like to be the same room where traditional robot vacuums are cleaning because of the noise level.

The base station is also small, making it a good fit for smaller rooms or apartments. I like how it takes up less space on the floor. But it still manages a 4L dustbin, which should only need to be emptied about every 90 days, so it’s less of a hassle.

Now, this is a 2-in-1 vacuum-mop combo, but it takes a different approach to mopping. Instead of built-in mopping pads that must be cleaned regularly, the K10+ Pro uses disposable cleaning pads. These are basically wet wipes, and you can use nearly any kind, so you’re not locked in to using a proprietary SwitchBot wipe. Each wipe stays wet for around 20-30 minutes of mopping, and then it must be replaced. You’ll need to decide ahead of time if you want it vacuuming or mopping, and if you choose mopping, you’ll need to attach a mopping pad, but it can be done in less than a minute.

If you choose to vacuum, it has 3000 Pa, or Pascals, of suction power, which is a measure of the force required to lift objects. For context, 3000 Pa is enough to lift marbles or AA batteries off the floor, so it should remove most debris that you’d want it to.

If the robot’s battery gets low while cleaning, it automatically returns to the base station for charging, and then goes back to cleaning right where it left off.

The K10+ Pro uses LiDAR navigation to map out your floor, separate rooms, and know where it’s going. It cleans in straight lines, first going around the perimeter, and then covering the spaces in between. Unlike my other traditional robot vacuum, this one follows the edges of walls and furniture on the side with the edge-sweeping brush, making it more efficient at cleaning up debris.

It connects to your smart home via WiFi or Bluetooth, and it works with Amazon, Google, and Apple voice assistants, plus SmartThings and If This Then That. You can also use it with Home Assistant via the Matter integration and a supported SwitchBot hub, like I am. However, this will only expose a switch entity for starting and stopping a cleaning mission of the entire floor.

From the SwitchBot app, you can create rooms, virtual walls, no mopping, and no-go zones. This is especially useful to instruct the robot not to mop on carpet, or to avoid high pile carpet where it may get stuck. In the app, you can also toggle between vacuum and mopping mode, send it to clean a specific room or area, and tell it what order to clean the rooms in. You can also adjust how long and how frequently it auto-empties the dustbin.

If you have kids, you can turn on a child lock so the vacuum cannot be started by the physical buttons on the robot, which I appreciate as a dad with young kids.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve been frustrated by traditional robot cleaners being too big to fit into certain spaces, or if you just have a smaller space to keep clean, the K10+ Pro might be just what you’re looking for.

The small size allows it go pretty much anywhere, and the small footprint and white color makes it more discrete in my home, which my spouse, Ashley, also appreciates. And because it makes less noise, it’s less likely to disturb you.
